Book Review: Wrecked

Wrecked, by Elle Casey

The first few pages of “Wrecked” nearly had me chucking this book into the trash. It started with an introduction to Sarah, a character who I immediately disliked. She was a snobby spoiled brat. However, I kept reading. I have a hard time not at least getting through the first chapter of any book.

Luckily this story took a quick turn towards intriguing and I decided to continue reading. I instantly fell in love with the personality of the dorky, average girl, Candi. The story goes on to give you a description of the Jock Kevin and the nerd Jonathan as well, each likeable and dislikable in their own rights.

When the group of 4 unlikely friends are forced to spend time together things get off to a rocky start. However as the teens go through an eventful set of events leaving them stranded together on a boat in the middle of the ocean, they learn to set aside their differences and work together to survive.

The teens have to struggle through some terrifying moments to survive life on a deserted island. At times the trials this group have to go through seem cliché and make the writing seem a bit immature, however the detailed writing on other sections leave you feeling connected and in tune with the well-developed characters.

The story gives room for plenty of romance, action, adventure, and otherwise drama with a satisfying ending.

Over all I enjoyed this story and am looking forward to finding more by this author.
